There have been tons of reports suggesting that players have encountered a number of performance issues with the PlayStation 4 version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt after the release of patch 1.07. Instead of improving overall performance of the game and ensuring stable frame-rates, the latest patch actually shows a regression. The game’s frame-rate drops to as low as 20fps on consoles in challenging areas. According to DigitalFoundry’s report, the patch 1.07 doesn’t give us much to celebrate, the game on PlayStation 4 stutters in places where Xbox One runs at a perfectly smooth 30fps, and in cut-scenes, Sony’s latest console delivers the least readings overall.

CD Projekt Red, developer of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, has acknowledged the matter with serious considerations, and the development team is adamant on resolving the issues. As of yet no major solution has emerged, however, the studio is ensuring PlayStation 4 players that the performance fix will arrive soon.

In recent developments, answering to a fan’s query on twitter, CD Projekt Red’s community manager Marcin Momot shot down the idea of reducing The Witcher 3’s native resolution from full HD 1080p to 900p on the PS4 in order to improve performance and frame-rates.

Overall we see the gaming community appreciating CD Projekt Red’s efforts to resolve the issue.

About a year ago, the executive producer for The Witcher 3 John Mamais in an interview stated: “It’s actually easier to develop for Xbox One for us because we’re PC developers. So everything we do on PC is for DirectX 11. And Xbox is also based on DX. So for the rendering side it’s a more natural progression for us to go to Xbox. But we anticipate being able to do 1080p on PS4 a little bit easier than on the Xbox.” Many in the community, however, showed concern whether CD Projekt Red would be able to harness the power of the PlayStation 4. Though we now know that The Witcher 3 runs quite fine on PlayStation 4, and that the developer is confident about resolving the issues created by the patch without having the native resolution of the game scaled down.

Although the patch may have brought some unwanted results but the wealth of improvements it brings with it can’t be ignored. Feel free to share your opinions in the comment section below.
