The PlayStation 4 has truly been dominating the gaming market since its launch some two years ago. Being praised for it’s DualShock 4 design and wining IGN People’s Choice Awards by beating the Xbox One in all categories, the console made a very strong first impression. With games running at higher resolutions on the PlayStation 4 as opposed to its competitors, the console is bringing Sony much acclaim.

Sony recently made an amazing announcement with the company claiming to have sold, as of November 22, around 30.2 million units of the PlayStation 4 worldwide. Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc in a statement said “We are sincerely grateful that gamers across the globe have continued to choose PS4 as the best place to play since launch two years ago,” he further went on to say “We are committed to bringing engaging games and entertainment services to users worldwide. Thanks to the support of our partners, PS4 continues to be the premier platform for game and interactive entertainment innovation.”

In support of the news Sony also released a statement which reads “PS4 is a uniform system on which gamers everywhere can enjoy the same high-quality digital entertainment experiences. The rapid expansion of the PS4 platform further reinforces the foundation of delivering compelling entertainment experiences. Customers can choose from multiple offerings available on this most favored platform that ranges from games on discs or through digital download to a variety of services available on PlayStation Network, including PlayStation Plus membership service, apps for streaming video, music and TV content. The 30.2 million PS4 owners around the world are spending more time playing games and enjoying entertainment content as the company further enriches content and services.”

Many expect the trend would continue mainly due to the overwhelming hype that surrounds the console and a certain hope, that seeing these numbers Sony would try to push out more exclusives and original titles for the console. Though Xbox One was October’s best-selling console, partly due to the release of Halo 5, yet the PlayStation 4 is ahead by many folds.
